Description
Continuation of Part 1; must sign up for Part 1 to register for Part 2.
Learn to knit top down socks with the classic heel and gusset flap. We’ll be covering the basics of sock knitting, including yarn and fiber selection, fit tips, needle types, history, and finally, you’ll knit your first toddler sized sock in DK weight.
Students should already be familiar with the following skills:
- Casting on
- Joining to work in the round
- Working in small circumference
- Working knits, purls, and basic decreases such as knit 2 together and slip, slip, knit.
Students will receive a complete pattern for top down, DK weight yarn socks with heel flap and gusset, in toddler, child, and two adult sizes.
Materials:
- DK weight yarn - Regis 6 ply is recommended.
- US5 and 4 needles for knitting small circumferences in the round (such as DPN's or magic loop). If using small 9-10" circulars, please also have one of the other methods for the heel and toe.
- Stitch markers (4)
Homework:
Knitters will be expected to work the cuff and leg of the toddler sock prior to class so we can proceed to the more class-specific heel flap and gusset, and toe decrease portion of the sock.
